What You Need To Know About Snow Peak Titanium Bowl

5.5 inch by 3 inch Snow Peak Titanium Bowl holds 20 fluid ounces. oz. This bowl is 1.6 ounces in weight. The material is titanium, so it won’t rust and can be used for cooking. This item pairs perfectly with the Titanium Multi Compact Cookset from Snow Peak. With the lightweight camping bowl and cookset, the total weight falls under 14 ounces. There is enough cooking gear to cook elaborate dishes for two people. Is this a false economy? In this review, I discuss the Snow Peak Titanium Bowls.

An Overview of the Snow Peak Titanium Bowl

When I took a 17-day canoe trip across the BWCA I used the Snow Peak Titanium Bowl for the first time. Our trip consisted of cooking over a gas stove or a fire with one pot meals.  Bowls and cups were used for eating. As we carried a Bushbuddy-like stove for cooking, the Snow Peak Titanium Bowl had to fit unprotected into a backpack during travel since it was able to fit inside a single pot. The pot was not protected, so I worried that it would be broken. Thankfully, it kept its shape despite my concerns.

Using the bowl to eat was fine. Although only a thin layer of titanium is used to make the bowl, I never felt or saw any heat when holding it in my hands. One portion filled the bowl about halfway and a second filling filled it about two-thirds of the way. The bowl seems to be in good condition. The bowl even performed well when I drank from it.

I have been looking for something like this for years and had tried Orikaso’s folding bowls in the past, which is lighter, but harder to pack and less easy to clean. With this bowl, I don’t have to worry about packing or cleaning.

Thoughts On the Ideal Two-person Cookset

After tweaking and perfecting my cookset for one person for the last few years, I think I’ve finally come up with the perfect lightweight two-person cookset. The weight is 15 ounces. Including fuel. This is what I came up with:

  • It actually weighs 1.8 oz. (Mine does too.)
  • This Set (5.8 oz.) comes with a large pot and lid.
  • Titanium Short Sporks from Snow Peak (total weight: 1.2 oz.)
  • The MSR Pocket Rocket Backpacking Stove (3 ounces) and a 3.53 ounce Jetboil container.

Using this set, you will be able to cook with a pot, a bowl and a lid for a fry pan. All of its parts fit inside the pot, including a stove that is easy to use. A Snow Peak Litemax stove could be substituted for the MSR stove to save weight. You would still benefit from this system even if you reduced the weight to 14 oz. Even more weight could be saved by using a pop can stove.

The Overall Picture

Snow Peak’s Titanium Bowl is a game that you simply can’t lose. At only $16, you can’t go wrong. The material is light. It can be used for cooking. In addition, the size is perfect. This is a durable product. In my opinion, this bowl is perfect for camping.
